Apart from the 12 months’ salary paid in a year, the Civil Service’s annual salary package also includes the following components:
- Performance Bonus (PB)
- Non-Pensionable Annual Allowance (NPAA)
- Annual Variable Component (AVC)
- Special Bonus (SB)

Starting salary will be as follows:

Management Executive Scheme University Degree Up to $2,400 to $2,850
Management Support Scheme Polytechnic Diploma Up to $1,730
Technical Support Scheme Polytechnic Diploma Up to $1,850
GCE ‘A’ Level $1,271
GCE ‘O’ Level $1,113
Corporate Support Scheme GCE ‘A’ Level $1,176 – $1,218
GCE ‘O’ Level $1,092 – $1,134
GCE ‘N’ Level $1,008
Operation Support Scheme Passed Secondary 2 $885
Completed Primary School Education $818
From the salary above, apparently if you are lowly educated and would like to earn more money, i guess there are only sales job out there for you to make a living. Other than that, setting up own business will be the next best alternative =) However this option comes with opportunity cost and considered quite high risk. To do your own business, you need to be hardworking, passionate about the business, patient,  risk taker, plan ahead and systematic person. Most importantly, you need capital! If however you are lacking in any of these areas, you can find a business partner who is able to complement you. This way is what people called: Leverage.
