Hi folks, I’m finally back to blog! It’s been so long since I’ve taken the time to reflect. The past one whole month has been insane for me due to reservist, work and being overseas. Basically I don’t really have the luxury to have quiet time to myself and blog about my thoughts.

That’s why today I decided to come to airport to chill =) Having a cup of latte whilst doing strategic thinking. I love such moments as I can slow down my pace and reflect on all the things that has happened in my life and learn from the experiences that I’ve had.

Let me do a recap of the experiences that I have gained in the past two months:

1) During conversations with guys younger than me, I realized that the decisions made during the younger years have the ability to completely alter one’s fate. I made the decision to join the financial industry despite many objections while doing my part time degree and after 4 years, I have never looked back. If I had not made this move, I wouldn’t be where I am now and this website wouldn’t be in existence. I also wouldn’t have learnt so many valuable life lessons in life and met amazing people.

2) After one of the major exercise that I had during my course, I was reminded that one’s attitude in life decides whether or not you’re poised for success. Eg: If you are always positive about things, you tend to make the best out of it and try to learn new experiences from it. Successful people that I know, especially my boss Merry Riana, has an excellent attitude towards life. She has been going around sharing with many others that the most important things in life can be achieved by having the right attitude. Losers, on the other hand, focus a lot on what they can’t achieve and blame anything and everything except themselves.

3) We can plan but if the plan that you have is not what God has intended for you, it will not materialize. As a result, you need to see from this point of view and tell yourself that God breaks your plan so that HE can allow the bigger plan to materialize. Every failure in our life serves a purpose. It doesn’t happen without a reason. So seize the chance to learn from the mistakes and grow!

4) Saving is a virtue! Being able to save and possessing the willingness to save isn’t easy. This is especially so in Singapore where things are so expensive coupled with low wages, it can be quite taxing on normal folks. It takes great determination to weather out temptation and remain as normal =) Although it may seem very extreme but that was what I learnt. We can save money if we really take a step back to reflect on our wants and needs. You have to ask yourselves whether you deserve to buy these items and whether the purchase value adds to your life.

5) What kind of lifestyle do you desire? Have you asked yourselves why you are working so hard? Do you desire a relaxed lifestyle when you retire? If the answer is yes, then I suggest that you should migrate overseas =) After I came back from Australia, I learnt that it doesn’t take much effort to lead a relaxed lifestyle there. The culture is such that anyone can lead such a lifestyle. The per hour wage is about A$15-20 and working hours are from 9-6pm. After work time is meant for family bonding whereas weekends are meant for gathering with friends or colleagues. Even if you are unemployed, the government will also provide you with social benefits. So basically it is a choice of abandoning everything in our home country or to migrate to another place to start all over again. We need to find a purpose for working hard. We can’t just work without a reason because one of these days, you will just wear out and find life meaningless.

Well that’s all for my two cents worth of sharing. Hope you can gain some insight through my experience. It’s always good to leverage on others than to go through itself.

Above is the cover page for my VERY FIRST BOOKLET that i am going to publish! I have been preparing this booklet for few months not because i write slow but due to the fact that i sent it for compliance reading and designing.

I can’t believe that i am actually coming up this booklet because i have never ever dreamt of publishing anything like this before. NEVER! But this dream still came true for me. I really have to thank my boss, Merry Riana and Alva, for inspiring me to write this booklet for my clients. Without their guidance, i believe that this booklet won’t not be possible.

The purpose of this booklet is really meant for my clients and i also like to have a feel of how is it like to be a ‘writer’ =) What i wrote in my booklet is what i have learnt and gathered throughout my experiences in the last 4 years. I really hope that many of my clients would be proud to have me as their only adviser and also will benefit from what i had to share with them.

I will keep you updated on the progress of my booklet and i am aiming to publish by next month! Stay tuned!

I just attended Merry’s Sales Mastery which lasted a total of 36 hrs over 3 days! If there is anything that i can describe, the word would be ‘Awesome’

Learnt alot of new things from her and also had a good refreshment lesson. I am going to apply what i have learnt into good use. Otherwise i will have really wasted my precious 3 days at the training. In fact, in all the other seminars that people attended, only 5-10% of people will apply what they have learnt! Of course these people are the ones that become successful. Is it by chance or by choice? It’s definitely by choice and this time round, i am determined to make it my choice too =)

Really felt very lucky to be able to have a such a dynamic and good trainer as my mentor and i believe that without her guidance and teaching, I will not be where i am today. Seriously if i can say the best thing about our agency is that we have a team of committed managers who are always there to provide good training for all people. All these are done without being paid for. Everyone works because they wanted to bring out the best in everyone. It’s hard to find such an agency these days and i will treasure what i have now.

Anyway I will blog about what i have learnt in coming posts so hope you guys can stay tuned over here!

Lately i had the privilege of hearing from a lady who has been in this business for almost 20 years! Wah it was really long time and i thought that the wisdom that this lady was going to share would definitely going to add tremendously value to me. True enough, i have gained a few insightful informations that i am going to share with you guys.

First of all, she shared with us about the importance of having a plan. It is not a normal plan of what you are doing daily or weekly but it is a plan that involved 10 years of your career! Not many people this days are able to do it because they are not serious about their career as they are taking the approach of what we called ‘see see look look’ attitude. She told us the moment when she started out this career as a financial planner, she has planned out what she is going to achieve step by step in years to come. And guess what? She achieved everything in just a short 5 years!!!

Listening to such success stories have again reinforced the idea of law of attraction and importance of planning. Law of attraction works in a way that we will dream and visualise what we want the things in life to be and slowly our behaviour and actions will be more in tuned to this area. At the end of the day you will achieve the things that you been desiring. Planning of what you want in life is the first step of getting what you want. We should really sit down and think of what we want to achieve in life.

Merry Riana (my pretty boss) had shared with us her own personal dream book that she had it years ago when she was still a student. Inside her dream book consists of all her dreams including being a young millionaire, singer, no.1 trainer and of course a wonderful family of her own. So did she managed to achieve everything? OF COURSE not all tho =) But she can proudly said that she managed to get almost 90% of the things she desired since last time.

So with another success stories with regarding about a long term career/life plan, what are we waiting for? Right now, please go and sit down to think seriously about what do you want in your life for the next 10 years and how are you going to achieve it? Pen it down inside a book so that you can see it next time. You can make it nicer by placing many pictures (what you want to have) to create a more ‘real’ effect.

Secondly this lady also shared with us about passion. As usual for most people to be successful in any other career, he/she has to love the job. To love the job, the person needs to be passionate about it. To be passionate about it, you got to do it with interest. Though it may sounds easy and i believe many of us have heard it many times before but yet seldom of us managed to do it. Why???

In my opinion, i feel that it is because people did not put enough reasons to put behind the reason for doing something. Although it is just reasons but do u guys know that by just having strong reasons can just simply makes or breaks a person. Success is just sometimes depending on the reasons behind the action. Eg: If you want to be lose weight so you got to ask what are the reasons behind? Is it because it feels good to have it or because it is a must for you to have it if not your loved one will leave or look down on you? If your reason is the latter, i am very sure you will lose weight real fast! I also believe that interest can be cultivated. So long you put enough time and effort in trying to learn something and most importanly associated feeling into the thing, interest will get stronger day by day.

Well i believe right now after reading it, you may feel motivated. If you are, take actions now! Go do your planning and talk to people that has been there done there. Get their advice and MODEL after them! But if you are still not motivated or convinced about the importance of having a plan in your career/life, go look for some reasons why you think it is not importance and ask whether is it really true that we should live life just as things come or we need to really plan ahead?

I had just got back from my annual goal setting 2009 and what i can say was that it was a very fun and exciting session. Had lots of fun playing games with my group, Mosaic and very happy to see that all are us were so united in winning! What’s more, we even won the Top House for last month and we are entitled to a free meal with Merry.

But what makes it so special this year was that i actually conducted my first very own agency time and goal setting with my consultants! Right now, i have about 3 consultants with me and a couple of them will be joining later this year. My goal for this year remains the same: 8 consutlants by end of the year! I set this goal earlier this year and true enough i am gearing all my actions into achieving this goal.

Attending goal setting has always been a very fruitful session for me because each time after coming out from it, i am always feeling very motivated! Like the others, i also have my fair share of losing focus along the way but one of the ways how i get it back was through goal setting session =) I remember there was this famous saying: Motivation is like bathing. It has to be done daily! Personally i find it very true especially in my profession where you gets alot of ups and downs. Of course, the good side is that you matures alot along the way.

I will continue to work towards my goal while making sure that i will see my consultants achieving their own goal. For those who are reading, i urge you not to give up your goals easily. Life without goal is like a ship without a captain, lost in the big ocean. Hence do you want to be lost?

The choice is yours! Cheers!

Hi guys

Sorry for not updating my website lately. The month of May had been quite hectic for me as i am busy preparing for my final exam paper (it’s over already!) and doing my recruitment. Thank God that every thing has came to the end and i am slowly getting back on track with work again. Really can’t take to work and put in my 200% and see how far i can stretch myself here. Will continue to input more exciting and useful information for all my readers as i received many emails telling me they like my website. Seeing that really motivates me to write more articles!

It had been a good 3 years studying part-time and working full-time at the same time. It wasn’t easy for me to handle the stress level and job demand but i am glad it was all over now. At least now i can really work full time and have one thing less to worry about. Now my greatest concern is to make sure that all my candidate are well taken care of and can be successful in their career.

I am going to commit myself 24/7, 7 days per week to ensure their success over here. Nothing else is going to matter the most except them. I aspired to be one of the best manager and be able to produce good future leaders! I want them to not only be good in sales but to have a heart for people around them. Must be able to give back to society if possible and to make sure they don’t neglect their personal life especially with their family. Many people who come out to work in society have neglected their family due to their hectic schedule. Hence i emphasized that it is very important to strick a balance between work and family. No point having all the money in the world but you have no one to celebrate with you.

Lately there have been alot of news happening in spore. One of the most immediate concerns that we all have would be the H1N1 aka Swine flu! The latest number of person being quarantined are 4. So far no death cases over there hence no big alarm. But nevertheless, all of us should be more careful and remember to visit a doctor if you have any slight flu. Please don’t save money by doing self-medication. You will not only harm yourself but the people around you. Don’t gamble this time!

Regarding the worldwide recession we are facing right now, the market sentiments seem to look better as more experts have expressed their opinion that the whole market will take a turn coming next year. Economists believed that the worst of the current downturn has already been reflected in 4Q 2008 and 1Q 2009 GDP numbers, and that economic growth figures will increase going into the next few quarters. The attention now turns to corporate earnings, which it’s an important factor in determining the sustainability of a market recovery. Corporate earnings tend to recover after the worst quarter of GDP growth.

Since 17 Feb, the S&P has returned 15.2% in USD terms. Despite the strong performance, valuation on a price-earning basis suggest that further upside is likely for the US market. On one hand, economic growth is likely to turn positive in 3Q 2009 which will may continue to fuel the current rally and earnings are likely to bottom out this year. However, downside risks to forward earnings and a weaker US dollar are lingering issues.

Back to myself, i will be coming out a booklet on ‘Family planning’ soon. Everything is already done up and i am just waiting to send for compliance approval and finally printing =) Be looking forward to share with all my clients and prospect. I be back to update more regarding the booklet. Make sure you stay tuned!

Hello guys! I’m back from my NLP course and now i am feeling really very recharged and motivated! This NLP training has been my best training so far because of the things that i have learnt. This is my 2nd NLP that i have attended and i’m glad that i went for it. We have learnt alot of things such as the ultimate success formula, changing belief system, pattern of excellence and skills such as pacing and leading.

The most impactful exercises were the visualisation and changing belief system. Alva used a total new approach to teach us how to change our belief most effective in just 30min! I have decided to share what i have learnt last week with all my readers. I will update slowly topic by topic due to my busy schedule. Hoping that you can learn something out of it too. Should you guys have any questions about NLP, please feel free to drop me an email and i will answer to your questions asap!

By the way, the above were pictures taken during our NLP course. The second pic showing two persons doing the same things was the exercise of modeling other people’s feeling. This exercise was very useful in the sense that it helps you to feel the way the other party was feeling at that point of time by JUST MODELING EVERYTHING! Even the breathing!!! It’s simply amazing to see how we can actually get into the other party mind by just copying the way people’s posture. Learning such skills are important because it helps you in building rapport with your friends and making them comfortable with you. I always believe that NLP can be applicable in all aspects of life so once you are a master of it, you are incredible!

Its’ late and i will be back to update more about what i have learnt in NLP. Stay tuned!

Today was my first day of NLP training attending as a coach. It was really quite good for me because i get to refresh the stuff on NLP and get to have first hand training on how to assist as a coach. For those who don’t know what is NLP. Basically it stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming.

NLP was originally promoted by its founders, Bandler and Grinder, in the 1970s as an extraordinarily effective and rapid form of psychological therapy, capable of addressing the full range of problems which psychologists are likely to encounter, such as phobias, depression, habit disorder, psychosomatic illnesses, learning disorders. It also espoused the potential for self-determination through overcoming learnt limitations and emphasized well-being and healthy functioning. Later, it was promoted as a ‘science of excellence’, derived from the study or ‘modeling’ of how successful or outstanding people in different fields obtain their results. It was claimed that these skills can be learned by anyone to improve their effectiveness both personally and professionally.

We have done a few exercises today and it was quite impactful. Really appreciated the fact that i am in an agency where we strongly believed in educating ourselves through such training. I will update more of what i be going through for the next two days. Stay tuned for more updates!
