Today i took a cab from orchard to my place and on the way, the taxi uncle chatted with me. As usual, we talked about the general stuff like how the recession may hit the sales of cab etc. Then we came to a point when the driver shared with me how he managed to get his ‘sales’ every single day without working harder these days.

He told me that he only need to do 8 regular customers per night (charging normal booking fee instead of advance booking fee) and the rest is additional bonus to him. Then he went on to share with me how he value add his customers by buying dinner or drinks for those people who worked till late at night and without dinner taken. As for the ladies, he will wait till the girl go inside the lift then he will leave the block.

I was really impressed with his services and way of doing business. He makes sure that he is the ‘special’ taxi-driver that cares and making sure he goes beyond his normal duties. Although some people may feel its way too much to buy dinner for them. But can you imagine you are the customer? How would you feel? If i am the one having such treatment, i will make sure that i will get all my friends to take his cab =)

i believe his personal touch has made a difference in the way customers view him. Really have to clap for all his efforts! That is why i felt that if taxi driver can even go into such good customer service then imagine i will to put in similar concern into my clients, i can literally imagine that my business will be never-ending and always full with referrals =)

For those who are reading, do bear in mind that these days we are not only to meet customer’s expectations. We are supposed to EXCEED their expectation in order for them to refer you more clients!
